Asia Week, Spring 2011
We had a whole school focus on Asia during this term with a particular focus week during February 14th -18th. We are fortunate that four teachers have had an opportunity to visit India over the last couple of years as part of educational projects. All these staff came back with some very good resources and ideas that we want to use these valuable experiences.
We have decided to broaden our focus and investigate other countries in Asia such as Bangladesh and some classes are looking at China and Japan. We felt that this was very important as we have several families whose backgrounds are from these countries.
We hope this will give the children a deep insight into this part of the world, the culture, how people live, their food, their beliefs, the environment and wildlife. We are trying to arrange for one of the teachers Mrs Hayes and Mrs Coglan worked with in India to visit the school to work with the children. This will probably happen during the beginning of the summer term as this is the best time for her. |
