A group of 8, 9 and 10 year olds from Holy Trinity Church of England School in Taunton have designed a timeline to show how some of the most significant events in history fit alongside the story of Taunton Castle.

The timeline features events such as the Great Fire of London and the Battle of Trafalgar together with the Wars of the Roses and the Monmouth Rebellion, in which Taunton Castle played a major role. The thousands of visitors to Somerset County Museum will be able to see the timeline in the museum and everyone else will be able to view by clicking here

The Year 4 and 5 students did much of the research and helped decide which events would feature.

'We hope that other children learn more about History, it is so much fun and you learn a new thing every day' said Emily Barr a student involved.

'The timeline was really interesting to make' commented Harriet Colwell, a Year 4 student.

The timeline will be on show at the Somerset County Museum from 6th July 2007.
